Background & case studies
  • Simplified procurement processes by deploying LEAN yielding 20% savings on stock value with reduced supplier leadtimes.
  • Sourced, audited and approved chemical suppliers from India and negotiated contracts yielding annual savings of £250k based upon a £5m raw material spend.
  • Instigated a project to develop business with Indian pharma/biotech companies which culminated in a trade mission India.  This resulted in successful follow up activities and the development of a sales database of Indian companies.
  • Commercial member of a pan European team that successfully implemented SAP/R3 system at UK and Hungarian sites on time and in budget.  Latterly, trained all the commercial users in the new system.
  • Attained and expedited marketing authorisations for various novel veterinary medicinal products and was responsible for site manufacturing authorisation and GMP compliance.
  • Part of site team involved in product development, regulatory affairs and marketing of licensed pharmaceutical (e.g. Pedigree Wormer) and nutraceutical (e.g. Pedigree Joint Mobility) product range for dogs and cats.

Qualifications & experience
  • Attained Chartered Buyer status (MCIPS) after successfully completing 13 examinations .
  • Dale Carnegie Management graduate.
  • Held roles in procurement in chemical, FMCG and pharmaceutical sectors specialising in chemical buying. Other procurement areas included services (e.g. sub processors), capital and engineering.
